Despite their widespread adoption, the processes through which ERP systems generate organizational and financial value remain insufficiently understood, particularly within emerging economy contexts. Grounded in the Information Systems Success Model and socio-technical theory, this study investigates the relationship between ERP integration and financial management optimization through an empirical case study conducted at LABEL’VIE, a major Moroccan retail company employing the AGRESSO ERP system. A quantitative research design was employed using survey data collected from 72 employees within the financial department. Statistical analyses, including Pearson’s Chi-square tests and effect-size measures, were conducted to examine the proposed relationships. The findings reveal significant associations between ERP ease of use, training quality, usage frequency, and perceived improvements in financial management effectiveness. The results indicate that ERP-generated benefits are not solely determined by technological deployment but also depend on organizational capabilities that facilitate effective system use and user integration. By extending ERP research within emerging economies, this study contributes to the literature on information systems value creation and offers managerial insights regarding ERP implementation, employee training, and long-term system appropriation strategies.
2026-07-05T00:00:00+00:00Copyright (c) 2026 https://www.ijsmes.com/index.php/ijsmes/article/view/638The Complexity of the Tax System and Quality Financial Reporting: The Case of Unlisted Companies in Cameroon2026-07-05T12:40:49+00:00Francis NKENGATEH contact@ijsmes.com
The complexity of the tax system dramatically affects the efficiency of corporate structures and strategy. This study examines the impact of the complexity of the fiscal system on the quality of financial reporting in unlisted companies in Cameroon. Employing a quantitative approach, data were collected from 65 unlisted public limited companies in the western, central, and the littoral regions of Cameroon. Data analyses using five points rated Likert scale and ordinary least square method, source of data analysis using SPSS. The result shows that rapid change of the tax code have a positive and a significant impact on the quality of financial reporting across both models emphasising that change in tax codes without biased eradicate tax evasion consequently reducing fewer audit and fiscal adjustments, reflecting better reporting quality. Based on these results, it is recommended that the fiscal system should be simple and less complex to make it acceptable at level of compliance amongst tax payers. Taxation should be taught at all levels of education, starting from primary schools to secondary schools, up to university level, with an emphasis of promoting voluntary tax compliance.
Key words: tax complexity, financial reporting quality, unlisted companies and Cameroon
2026-07-31T00:00:00+00:00Copyright (c) 2026 https://www.ijsmes.com/index.php/ijsmes/article/view/648Strategic monetary management and macroeconomic stabilization in the Democratic Republic of Congo: a 25-year VECM analysis of five structural episodes (2001-2025)2026-08-02T12:57:08+00:00KAMABU MUYISA Danielcontact@ijsmes.comTSHAMALA BADIBANGA Bernardcontact@ijsmes.comNKIAMA MASANDI Floribertcontact@ijsmes.comZALETE VAMPEKE Petronnellecontact@ijsmes.com
This paper frames 25 years (2001Q1-2025Q4) of Central Bank of Congo (BCC) monetary management as a strategic management problem, evaluating its indirect liquidity management strategy across five structurally distinct episodes: (i) post-stabilization (2001-2012); (ii) record-low rate era (2013-2015); (iii) politico-monetary crisis (2016-2018); (iv) COVID-19 shock (2019-2021); (v) inflationary surge and 25% rate (2022-2025). A VECM estimated on 100 quarterly observations confirms: a significant disinflationary policy rate effect (–0.020; t = 6.35; p < 1%); exchange rate channel dominance (0.624, doubled vs. 2001-2012); near-unit petroleum pass-through (0.896); and 25-year structural stability (Johansen trace = 104.32, p = 0.0001; Chow p = 0.784; CUSUM stable). Drawing on strategic management frameworks (Bryson, 2018; Mintzberg, 1994), five strategic imperatives are identified for 2026-2035: interest rate credibility reinforcement, active exchange rate management, structural de-dollarization, energy diversification, and enhanced monetary communication strategy.
2026-08-02T00:00:00+00:00Copyright (c) 2026 https://www.ijsmes.com/index.php/ijsmes/article/view/650Macroeconomic Determinants of Living Standards in Mauritania: Evidence from an ARDL Approach (1991–2020)2026-08-08T18:55:37+00:00SIDI MOHAMED EL HADJ SIDIcontact@ijsmes.comAHMED AL FAGHA EL MEKYcontact@ijsmes.com
This study aims to identify the macroeconomic determinants of living standards in Mauritania over the period 1991–2020, using per capita final household consumption as an indicator of living standards. The analysis is based on an Autoregressive Distributed Lag (ARDL) model applied to annual data from the World Bank's World Development Indicators. The results show that in the long term, education and trade openness have a positive and statistically significant effect on living standards, while unemployment and gross fixed capital formation have a negative and significant effect. In contrast, inflation does not appear to be a significant determinant. In the short term, the significant negative error correction coefficient (−1.17) reflects a rapid adjustment towards long-term equilibrium and highlights the high sensitivity of the Mauritanian economy to external shocks. Diagnostic tests confirm the robustness and stability of the model. These results underline the importance of structural policies that promote education, job creation, productive diversification and improved investment quality in order to foster a sustainable improvement in household living standards.
2026-08-28T00:00:00+00:00Copyright (c) 2026 https://www.ijsmes.com/index.php/ijsmes/article/view/653Consumer Perception and Brand Loyalty toward Luxury Automotive Brands: A Narrative Review with Insights for the Moroccan Market2026-08-28T10:59:01+00:00Oumaima Sabir contact@ijsmes.comAmira Qanqomcontact@ijsmes.com
The Moroccan automobile market has changed substantially over the past years and is becoming increasingly significant hub to major global luxury brands. However, research on brand loyalty and consumer perception in the luxury automotive sector remains fragmented in both theoretically and geographical contexts. Most current studies focus on Western and Asian markets, leaving North Africa comparatively underrepresented. This study examines 73 peer-reviewed articles published between 2020 and 2026 through a narrative literature review guided by the TCCM framework (Theories, Contexts, Characteristics, and Methodologies). The findings reveal that the Brand Attachment framework has emerged as one of the primary analytical lenses, incorporating a brand into the consumer’s self-concept is identified as the most effective way to secure steadfast loyalty and resistance to competitive switching. Empirically, the research demonstrates that while brand image and identity serve as the most frequent triggers for initial consumer interest, relational variables specifically satisfaction, trust, and brand love act as the most critical mediators for ensuring long-term commitment. In the Moroccan context, findings uncover a unique duality: consumers are driven by inner-directed personal values but also show a high susceptibility to social status-signaling through luxury goods. Methodologically, this field relies largely on cross-sectional surveys examined through Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). This review concludes by identifying critical gaps and highlighting directions for future research in Morocco’s luxury automotive sector.
2026-08-28T00:00:00+00:00Copyright (c) 2026 https://www.ijsmes.com/index.php/ijsmes/article/view/654Impact of Technology Transfer on the Quality of Care in Moroccan Healthcare Institutions2026-08-28T11:02:54+00:00BENNANI Fatima Zahracontact@ijsmes.comDAKKAK Badrcontact@ijsmes.com
This article examines the influence of technology transfer on healthcare quality in Moroccan healthcare institutions, jointly testing the mediating role of digital health innovation and the moderating role of organizational absorptive capacity. Data were collected through a structured questionnaire administered to 200 healthcare professionals (hospital directors, physicians, nursing managers, quality officers, and information-system managers) across university hospitals, public hospitals, private clinics, and health centres in Morocco, and analysed using a variance-based structural modelling approach (composite scores, standardized regression, and bootstrapping) consistent with PLS-SEM logic [1]. The measurement model shows satisfactory reliability and convergent validity (Cronbach’s alpha ranging from 0.887 to 0.928; AVE ranging from 0.689 to 0.776), although discriminant validity among the antecedent constructs remains limited, warranting cautious interpretation of construct-specific effects. The structural model explains a substantial share of variance in technology transfer (R² = 0.852), digital health innovation (R² = 0.807), and healthcare quality (R² = 0.876). Training, leadership, digital infrastructure, and university-hospital partnerships each positively and significantly predict technology transfer, which in turn positively affects digital health innovation; digital innovation positively affects healthcare quality and partially mediates the technology transfer-quality relationship. However, the hypothesized moderating effect of absorptive capacity on the technology transfer-innovation link is not statistically supported. The study offers one of the few joint empirical tests of the TOE framework, the Resource-Based View, and absorptive capacity theory in the Moroccan hospital sector, and transparently discusses discriminant-validity limitations often left unaddressed in comparable studies.
2026-08-28T00:00:00+00:00Copyright (c) 2026 https://www.ijsmes.com/index.php/ijsmes/article/view/655Untangling the Link between Political Regime and Economic Growth: Beyond the Authoritarian-Democratic Dichotomy2026-08-28T11:45:18+00:00Merwan AATANYcontact@ijsmes.comEssaid TARBALOUTIcontact@ijsmes.com
Few scholarly inquiries within political economy have proven as persistently contentious as the connection between political regime characteristics and macroeconomic growth trajectories. This paper revisits this contested terrain by subjecting a wide ranging corpus of theoretical and empirical contributions to critical scrutiny. In doing so, it deliberately sets aside the simplistic binary opposition between authoritarian and democratic rule that has predominantly framed prior scholarship. The analysis initially investigates the specific conduits through which autocratic governance might either foster or constrain economic dynamism, with particular attention to political stability, policy decisiveness, and the latent hazards associated with unconstrained executive authority. The subsequent discussion then shifts focus to the mechanisms linking democratic institutions to economic performance, notably institutional accountability, improvements in human capital, and the transitory adjustment burdens that often accompany political liberalization. By integrating insights from contemporary quasi experimental research with the established cross country econometric literature, this study contends that the longevity and institutional robustness of a polity constitute more direct and significant determinants of sustained economic progress than the nominal political label it carries. Consequently, political regime influences growth primarily through indirect pathways, operating via the behavioral incentives that governance structures generate for both state actors and private economic agents. The final section of the paper outlines several pressing unresolved questions that merit further empirical investigation within this ongoing scholarly debate.
2026-08-28T00:00:00+00:00Copyright (c) 2026
